Houzaimen Street: Houhai of Ji’nan.

There is an ancient street absorbing anything and everything, matching well of Chinese and western styles and bearing not a few time-honored branches but is hidden in the busy modern Ji’nan city. This is Houzaimen Street.

  On Baihua Bridge Street behind De House , words about Houzaimen Street written in Licheng County Annals in the 13th year of Chongzhen Emperor, the last emperor of Ming Dynasty. The street was named after Baihua Bridge, the bridge named after Baihuazhou, a small island south apart the south gate of Daming Lake. Zhu Jianlin, the king of De, the second son of Ying Emperor who is the 6themperor of Ming Dynasty built up his De King mansion house in the 2nd year of Chenghua , the reign title of Xian Emperor, the 8th emperor of Ming Dynasty. According to the traditions of Yuan and Ming Dynasty the north gate of the mansion house was always named Houzai Gate and the street was located outside the gate so it is name Houzaimen Street.
