On June 3rd the external steel structure protection layer of the provincial cultural relics protection building ,“old water tower”located in Baotu Spring campus, Shandong University was completed. The old water tower is just like wearing a “golden coat”, seen from a distant place.
The 30-meter-high “old water tower” which was originally built in the 1920s was used for storing water to meet the needs of daily water for teachers and students . But it was destroyed in a big fire in the 1990s and this water tower was built up on the former site as it was in order to maintain its integrity. The protection layer is installed this time in a bid not to destroy the “old water tower” during the building of a new teaching building.
