The ability of independent innovation improves. In 2010, the quantity of patent application was 15,519, 14.4% increased. There were 9,593 granted patents, raised by 50.1%, including 1,260 invention granted patents which is increased by 51.4%.
Innovation platform is more perfect. In 2010, two national and seven provincial enterprise technical centers was recognized; Until end of 2010, there have been 204 enterprise technical centers above city level(including 13 national and 48 provincial).
High and New Technology Industry Development Zone is developing vigorously. The high-tech zone realized total output value of 27.68 billion yuan, up by 23.5% in 2010, among which the secondary industry accompished 19.15 billion yuan, 19.7% up; The tertiary industry realized 8.53 billion yuan, raised 33.8%.

At end of 2010, there were 14 art performance groups of various kinds including 6 provincial and 8 city-level groups; 145 cultural centers(stations) and mass art museums; 11 cinemas, two of which were newly increased, projecting 109,700 movies in the whole year, attracting 2,720,300 audiences; 11 museums; 14 archives; 12 public libraries; 156 cultural relics protection units above city-level, 12 of which were in national grade. In the whole year, our city published 1.68 billion newspapers, 0.07 billion magzines and 0.24 billion books. Year-end radio population mixed coverage and television population mixed coverage was 100% and 99.98% respectively. There were 1.5163 million users of Cable Radio and Television, including 0.3225 users of Digital Television which was increased by 264.5%. Jinan athletes won 416 gold medals and 141 silver medals in matches above national grade, among which 15 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 3 bronze medals were won in world-class competitions; 17 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 8 bronze medals were gained in intercontinental matches; 37 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 19 bronze medals were won in national matches. More than one hundred large-scaled public fitness activities were held with 0.6 million people attended; Total investment for construction of public fitness facilities at different levels reached 0.17 billion yuan. 1559 social sports instructors were trained in 2010, which included 567 instructors of level 1; 805 instructors of level 2; 167 instructors of level 3. The sales volume of sports lottery was as much as 0.908 billion yuan with an increase of 23.7%. The operation of sports venues were in good condition, with an income of 50 million yuan and paying 4 million yuan tax.
