Coventry of Britain--- became sister cities with Jinan on 3rd, Oct, 1983. It is located in central UK, covering an area of 7650 hectares, with a population of 306,000. Coventry is an investment city, an it is the home of car industry in UK with well-developed service industry and high technology.
Coventry and Jinan became sister cities on 3rd, Oct, 1983. Since then, the two cities have been communicating and cooperating on political, economic, technological, cultural and educational areas on the principle of equality and mutual benefit. The two cities also strengthened economic and trade exchanges and cooperation on the basis of government exchanges, and Jinan Foreign Affairs Office and Coventry City Chamber of Commerce China Trade Liaison Office are responsible for these affairs.
In 1998, mayor of Coventry, Mr Marton visited Jinan with the friendly delegation as invited. Director of Coventry Education Bureau, MS Guwen and two principals of middle school also coming with the delegation.
In March, 1999, Jinan friendly economic and trade delegation with Sun Shuyi as the delegation leader visited UK as invited, accomplished Economic and trade mission.
In September, 1999, Coventry city council president Fletcher visited Jinan with the friendly delegation. The two cities' leaders spoke highly of the importance of educational exchange between the two cities in the future development.
In September, 2000, Coventry friendly economic and trade delegation up to seven people with David Burton as the delegation leader visited Jinan. The delegation attended Jinan Autumn Trade Fair and Sister Cities Association.
In September, 2001, mayor of Coventry, David Chet visited Jinan with the friendly delegation as invited. The delegation attended Jinan Autumn Trade Fair.
