Lixia District First Popularize Four-color Classification of Household Waste

    Four-color classification of household waste will be first popularized in Lixia district, Jinan City. At present, locations for 35 collection sites of four-color classification have been selecting, making of publicity materials for classified collection have been stepping up. Since last September, 2nd Dianliu Residential Area and Dianliu No.1 Elementary School had been adopting four-color classification in waste collection, which is pilot project of City Administration Bureau of Lixia District. Waste bin in black, blue, orange and green colors are for collecting of non-recyclable waste, food leftover, hazardous waste and recyclable waste respectively.

    According to expert survey, resources which can be directly recycled including metal, paper, plastic and glass, accounted for 42.9% of the total waste. Other substances in the waste can also be converted into resources. If the resorce potential in the waste is fully explored, there will be considerable economic efficiency, and waste classification & recycling is the best way to solve the waste problem.
