First Household Solar Generator Connected to Grid

　　On May 9th, the 1170 watt distributed solar generator passed the acceptance inspection of Jinan Power Supply Company, which was installed by Mr Liu, on the roof of his own house in Prosperous Home Residential Area in Shizhong District. The solar generator got connected to the grid and started power generation. This is the first household distributed solar generator which has been connected to the grid and started power generation. From then on, the solar generator would satisfy the electricity demands in Mr Liu's house. Moreover, the spare electricity can be sold to the power grid directly.

　　At the end of October 2012, the State Grid Corporation announced its policy for distributed solar generator, which opened the door for household solar generator. Mr Liu applied to get connected to the grid this April, Jinan Power Supply Company completed all the procedures only in a month.

　　Household solar generator has obvious environmental benefit. Mr Liu calculated roughly, that his household solar generator could generate 4 watt electricity each day under the light condition in Jinan, it could generate 1460 watt electricity in one year, the generator could work for 25 continuous years. It can save 14.6 tons of standard coal, reduce emission of 36 tons carbon dioxide and 1 ton sulfur dioxide in those 25 years.

　　However, the household solar generator has faint economic benefit. Its investment payoff period is more than ten years. The development of household solar generator market depends on the policy support of the government.
