First Diagonal Pedestrian Crossing in Jinan
The repairing work of Quancheng Road completed on August 11th, which has been lasting for 40 days. Quancheng Road is open to traffic now. Diagonal pedestrian crossings are set up in the cross connections of Quancheng Road and Xiangxi Alley, Quancheng Road and Shengfu Qian Street. The reporter learnt from the construction side that it was the first pedestrian crossing of this kind in Jinan.
Diagonal pedestrian crossing is also called oblique pedestrian crossing, it is shaped like a X in the crossing. There is a signal lamp at each end of the pedestrian crossing. When all the motor vehicle signals at the crossing turn red and all the pedeatrian signals turn green, pedestrians can pass through the diagonal pedestrian crossing. Diagonal pedestrian crossing is able to reduce the traffic pressure at the crossing.
A responsible person with the construction side introduced that Quancheng Road is one of the iconic roads in Jinan. A great quantity of tourists and citizens come here everyday. The diagonal pedestrian crossing contribute to relieve traffic pressure and protect the pedestrians.
